Making an appointment

New Patients/Health Assessments

Appointments to establish care or for health assessments typically take longer than follow-up appointments, so you will want to allow ample time. If you are visiting Kauai Medical Clinic for the first time you will need to register as a new patient, so arrive 15 to 20 minutes before your scheduled appointment.

Follow-Up Appointments

When your doctor indicates you should return at a later date for a follow-up appointment, be sure to make your appointment before you leave the clinic. To avoid delay and inconvenience when making follow-up appointments by telephone, please be ready to provide your physician's office with your name, birthdate, and phone number.

Walk-in Patients

The walk-in clinic has expanded their hours. Patients may access the walk-in clinic from 8:00 a.m. til 4:00 p.m. every single day. Weekdays, weekends, or holidays, you can count on our walk-in clinic to be open to serve you. It is always best to see your primary care physician, but for those times when you can't, we are here for you. If you do not have a primary care physician, or if you are arriving without an appointment, you can usually be seen right away. Our family practice physicians and emergency medicine physicians are staffing the walk-in clinic and committed to providing you with the best clinical care. There are some appointment times available, and you can call 245-1532 to make an appointment for the same or next day.

Appointment Cancellations

If you are unable to keep an appointment, please notify us within 24 hours. We want to be able to give your appointment to someone else and avoid cancellation charges. Keep your appointment or call 245-1500 to cancel.

Wait Times

Appointments are processed as close to the scheduled time as possible and are kept in order. Occasionally, doctors are behind schedule due to emergencies and unforeseen developments. Providing the best healthcare possible must come first, so we ask for your patience and cooperation in these situations. Feel free to communicate with the receptionist about rescheduling your appointment to a more convenient time if your appointment is delayed.

Patient Registration

Kauai Medical Clinic

Patients visiting the Kauai Medical Clinic for the first time are required to register at the patient registration desk on the clinic lobby floor on which your physician is located. You will need to register 15 to 20 minutes before your appointment. A registrationist will take the information needed to set up your medical record and account. This procedure is necessary for each family member, even though their account may be in the name of the head of the household or other responsible party. You should bring all medical insurance identification cards with you. Each time you visit the clinic, you will be asked to update this information.

Registration for Hospital Services

For outpatient services, including laboratory, imaging, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, cardio/pulmonary (treadmill, stress tests), and emergency services, you will be asked to register at the registration desk in the emergency room.

When admitted to the hospital, you must register at the hospital's front office, located off of the main lobby. Please bring with you:

  • Your medical insurance cards.
  • Toilet articles, bathrobe and slippers for your personal comfort.
  • A copy of your advance directive, if you have one.

Valuables, such as money and jewelry, may be stored in a safe deposit box upon request.

To avoid admission delays, we recommend you pre-register prior to the day of admission. You may do so by mailing the pre-registration form together with a copy of your insurance cards to the hospital. It is also possible to register by phone by calling the admitting office at 245-1072 or 245-1073 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or at 245-1070 any time after 5 p.m.

For any questions on hospital registration, call 245-1070.
