Ribbon Cutting Opens Wilcox Family Imaging Center

On Monday, April 25, Wilcox family members joined board members and hospital and clinic staff to officially open the new Wilcox Family Imaging Center. The $4.5 million project is part of the hospital's capital campaign project to expand imaging and create a new surgical center.

Cutting the ribbon at the entrance was Edie Wilcox, representing the Wilcox family and their legacy of creating and supporting quality healthcare for Kauai, flanked by Paul Douglass, Chairman of the Wilcox Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, and Dr. John Culliney, Chair of the Imaging Department.

"We are pleased to celebrate the opening of the Wilcox Family Imaging Center," said Paula Dias, COO of Wilcox Health. "The Wilcox Family has a remarkable history of contributions to healthcare on Kauai. Elsie and Mabel Wilcox, along with other members of the Wilcox family, founded Wilcox Memorial Hospital in memory of their uncle, George Norton Wilcox. In recognition of a very generous donation to our capital campaign, we are honored to name the center as the 'Wilcox Family Imaging Center.'"

Dr. Richard Goodale, member of the Wilcox family and Chairman of the Wilcox Health Foundation Board said, "I extend my deepest appreciation to the family members who made contributions, and to the family trusts. Although I give of my time on the Foundation's Board, I understand it also takes financial support to realize and sustain my Aunt Mabel and Elsie's vision."

Patients are now able to enter the Imaging Center by the new entrance located between the Emergency Room and the Kauai Medical Clinic. When a patient is scheduled for diagnostic imaging, they can access the department from the parking lot and register with the clerk inside the new waiting room.

Honored guests attending the ribbon cutting ceremony were Wilcox family members and family trusts trustees Edie Wilcox, Anna Sloggett, Nancy and Hobey Goodale, Richie and Kathy Richardson, Dr. Richard and Karen Goodale, Joan Evans, Gaylord Wilcox, Mal and Pam Dohrman and David Pratt.

Other special guests were Jonathan Bailey, Project Architect; Carolyn Bailey, Jonathan Bailey's mother; Warren Chaiko, Vice President Construction, Hawaii Pacific Health; Les Yoshimoto, Manager, Imaging Department; Wele Estrada, Manager, Imaging Department; Val Tokuuke, Project Manager, Shioi Construction; Bill Fink, Outgoing Project Manager, Hawaii Pacific Health; and David Yamaguchi, Incoming Project Manager, Hawaii Pacific Health.
