Alexander & Baldwin Foundation Donates $7,250 to Wilcox Health Foundation

07/16/07

When Wilcox Memorial Hospital asked for a ventilator for patients needing an MRI scan, the Alexander & Baldwin Foundation answered with a check for $7,250. ³A special MRI-compatible ventilator is required to be used in the MRI suite. Our ventilator dependant patients are our most critically ill patients. The purchase of the new MRI IC-2A ventilator allows patients requiring ventilator support to benefit from the advanced technology and superior imaging the MRI has to offer. This will have a direct impact on patient care and my staff is very grateful to A&B for their generosity, allowing us to provide the best possible care to our patients.² said Peggy Hanley, lead respiratory therapist.

The Respiratory Therapy staff at Wilcox requested the equipment to provide patients with the best and safest care during MRI scanning. John Culliney, MD, chair of the hospital¹s Imaging Department said, ³The diagnostic services at Wilcox are exceptional thanks to the generosity of local trusts and foundations like the Alexander & Baldwin Foundation. The MRI was upgraded just last year, and thankfully our residents can get diagnostic screenings right here on Kauai. The ventilator enhances what we do here at Wilcox for patients with respiratory conditions.²

The Alexander & Baldwin Foundation has generously donated over $250,000 to Wilcox Health Foundation over the years.
