Kauai Medical Clinic Wins National Improvement Award

01/05/09

Kauai Medical Clinic is proud to announce that Press Ganey Associates, Inc. has named it a 2008 Compass Award Winner. Press Ganey currently partners with more than 7,000 health care facilities—including over 40% of U.S. hospitals—to measure and improve the quality of their care and their bottom line. The company’s databases are the largest in the industry, and allow facilities nationwide to benchmark their results against peer organizations. The Compass Award recognizes facilities that show the most improvement over two years in overall patient/resident/employee satisfaction. The Press Ganey Compass Award is a coveted symbol of achievement in the health care satisfaction industry that is bestowed annually, and Kauai Medical Clinic is just one of thirty-four facilities to receive this honor.

Dr. Melvin F. Hall, president and Chief Executive Officer of Press Ganey stated, "We are proud partners of Kauai Medical Clinic. Their dedication to continuous improvement serves as a model for all."

"As an organization that in 2007 started focusing more on the critical importance of physician engagement and leadership in improving the patients’ experience at our main clinic and satellite offices, it is gratifying to see that our efforts have resulted in these types of Press Ganey scores. We owe much of our improved physician engagement to the standards adopted by the physicians’ executive committee and, in particular, Dr. Geri Young, Chief Medical Officer. She is a staunch supporter of service excellence. She leads by example by personally calling patients to hear their concerns and apologize if they were not satisfied with their care. Dr. Young encourages other physicians to do the same. Our staff also deserves recognition for the important role they play in each patient’s visit. We are honored to receive this award, recognizing that it is a celebration of our early steps in a continuous process for ongoing improvement," noted Lynne Joseph, Chief Operating Officer of Kauai Medical Clinic.

Kauai Medical Clinic (formerly known as Kauai Medical Group) was established in 1966, and became an affiliate of Hawai‘i Pacific Health in 2001.
